SUYL- Kid's Bedrooms

Is it Friday already?!?!
My friend Kelly is hosting another SUYL (Show Us Your Life) Kid's Bedrooms linky party.  So if you plan to relax INSIDE WITH AIR CONDITIONING instead of weathering the  100+ heat OUTSIDE, then check out all the amazing/creative/inspiring ideas at KellysKornerblog.com.
I'll start with Nat's room.  She is the big sister after all!!  The wall color is a bit brighter than I had planned (I was preg with baby #2). At the time, her favorite color was purple, so I wanted to make sure there was alot of it in the room, but not lots of different shades of purple, it was kinda tricky, but I eventually got it all together!
On Nat's night stand, there is a white bear that I made out of a quilt that used to be Scott's grandma's.  I had Nat paint a canvas and I glued an "N" on top to hang above her night stand.
I know that the soccer ottoman doesn't match the decor, but Scott played soccer in college and there is a chair that goes with the ottoman that will reappear in the new house so....it stays....

These frames are the $2.00 plain oak ones from Wal-mart.  I think I even got these from the Wal-mart Associate store, so they were probably more like .50-$1.00 each. I then painted and distressed them.  The big flower in the center was once navy blue, I got it 90% off at HobbyLobby, and spray painted it white.  I painted the flowers in the vase in the top right corner.
I made the flower arrangement and added some of Nat's artwork (from a few yrs ago) on the wall.  There's Nat favorite COWGIRL HAT!
I could never find the right thing to hang over Nat's bed.  Her quilt is pretty busy and nothing seemed to work.  I decided to paint this.  I think it goes well with her room and pretty much sums up her personality.  I knotted/hot glued tulle around the canvas as a frame.  The flower shapes are just scrap paper cut-outs.
Here is another cheap Wal-mart frame that I painted and added a flower to the corner.  This is me and Nat 2 yrs ago.  You probably don't recognize me without my hair in a sloppy ponytail thing.
I stole this idea from Pottery Barn.  Nat's lamp needed to be taller, so I covered hardback books with scrap paper that matches her room colors.
And now onto Elerz's room.  Again, let me remind you that I was PREGNANT when I picked out this wall color. (it is the same color as in Nat's room).
I made all the bedding, but Elerz destroyed the bumper (which originally looked like the quilt hanging on her crib). So she is currently destroying a plain white Carter's bumper.  The crib skirt is still intact, but I took it off the crib once her mattress dropped this low.  It will go back on once we covert this crib to a toddler bed.  The crib skirt alternates between the striped fabric over her bed and a green/blue demask. (you will just have to imagine it)
Again, some more cheap Wal-mart frames painted and distressed.  The back pic is the green/blue demask I was talking about.  I recovered the shade and painted the base white (it was originally black).
I painted this to go over Elerz's kitchen set.  It just needed some color on this wall (a color OTHER than bright green!)

My Pappoo made this chest for me when I was 13-ish.  I plan to paint it and put it in the girl's toy room once we move.
Elerz LOVES Minnie Mouse! (she calls her MmDEE). We have close to 5 Million MmDee's in this house!!
These curtains were Scott's grandma's.  I added the fabric to the bottom to add some color and to lengthen them.
 Elerz's 1 yr picture. And...another MmDee.
Some more cheap Hobby Lobby finds and the bear is from FAO Schwartz in NYC.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!

TOOTH FAIRY!!!

Nat went to bed at 9:30 last night (which is sadly early for her) and slept until 8:15 this morning (which is actually early for her as well).  Ok. She is a total night owl and not so much of a morning person.  When school starts this fall (at.....7:40AM!!) it is just going to be sad, real sad!!!  If anyone hears of a public school with say a.......2pm-8pm schedule let us know!!! OK. Back to the point of the post....Our first experience with the TOOTH FAIRY!!!

Here is Nat last night with her tooth fairy pillow.
Isn't this pillow cute?  Nat talked Mrs. Susan into buying this pillow for her when Elia Rose was born almost 2 yrs ago.  I know it doesn't really make sense, but oh well!
Dropping the teeth in the pillow pocket.
The dentist office gave this little "keep sake"for Nat's teeth.
We put the pillow outside of Nat's room so that the tooth fairy wouldn't wake her up in the middle of the night.  She thought this was a really good idea.  I think the thought of a fairy coming into her room while she was asleep kind of freaked her out.
This morning, when she got up, she walked right past the pillow. I had to remind her to go and see if she had any cash.
She got $5.00 per tooth. So $10.00 total. (all future teeth will be worth $1.00 each).  I asked her what she was going to buy, she told me she wanted some kind of princess bathtub??  She then informed me that I can get her the new Brave Princess (I don't know what her name is.....) so I guess we will be going shopping tomorrow!!
Natalyn is doing much better today, her mouth is just real sore.  She only wants to eat fruit cups and pudding.  She is currently running around in her red cowgirl boots, so I think she'll survive!!!

Nat's mouth surgery-Post #2

Ok. Everything went well.  I got her up literally 10 minutes before we had to leave the house.  She never asked what was going on, which I was thankful for because she would have started to freak out!  We got to the ped dentist's office and they got her in a room about 15 min later.  The ped dentist that we use is great! (ok. I will name drop-Dr. Jeff Rhodes)  His office and his staff are awesome!  I am talking about video games for the kiddos to play while they wait, flat screen TV's on the ceiling above the exam chairs----the total works!!  Natalyn did get a little scared when it was time for her to get in the exam chair, but they immediately gave her some "princess air" and she calmed down.  After that she got a "bee sting" and started to glaze over, she was on her way to "sleepy town!"
Her new teeth look really good.   I am glad the dead tooth is gone, it was really hurting her.  She is trying to get used to the bridge this afternoon.  She has eaten 3 pudding cups, cut up grapes and attempted to eat scrambled eggs, but they got under her bridge.  I told her we would try them again another day.
NOW THE IMPORTANT NEWS!!!!
She is very excited about getting some CASH from the TOOTH FAIRY tonight!  She has a special pillow with a pocket on it for her teeth. ( I showed Nat her front teeth, she was not impressed, she thought they were gross, which I guess they are! Especially the one that is dead-it is brown/grey with a chip in it.)  With her future income (i.e. $$ from tonight) she plans to go shopping tomorrow, which is a good sign that she is on her way to a full recovery!!!

Here is a pic of her new top front teeth!!!

Nat's mouth surgery-POST#1

OK.  Today is THE DAY!!! Nat is getting her two front teeth extracted, a bridge and temp front teeth implanted?(not sur if that is the right word or not?) and a root canal in about an hour! Just pray that she does well!! She doesn't know that THIS IS THE DAY!! In fact, she is still asleep right now!  I will post more about this later today!!

Few house updates....

OK.  The house is coming along......slowly. Not really much to report from last week.  I thought I would post a little update anyway (on the good and bad).

GOOD: the garage has been cleaned up, it was the dumping ground of construction debris and left-over lunches (since March).  It was getting really stinky and there were a million flies, now it is all gone!!!
GOOD?: This is our fixture in the entry way.  I can't make my mind up if the finish is oil-bronze or antique bronze?? What do you think???  It is the correct fixture, just not sure if the finish is right?
BAD:  Here is the central vac system (installed) that we never requested.....Well....it's here to stay now, the hoses are in the Master closet at this time.  I'll spare you a picture of them, just take my word for it.
GOOD:  Front door handle.  This is front door #2, it was just recently installed so it is not stained yet.  Front door #1 suffered a blow by something resulting in a huge chunk out of it during construction, so it had to be replaced.
BAD:  Good thing I haven't gotten emotionally attached to front door #2.  As you can see, the door was cracked during the handle installation, so once front door #3 is installed, I'll introduce you to it!!
GOOD:  All interior knobs look like these.
GOOD:  All cabinet hardware looks like this.
 GOOD:  Glass for Master Shower.
BAD: Here is a pic of the Master bathroom mirrors. (the trim has not been stained to match the cabinets yet).   Problem is that they are too tall and our fixtures can't fit over them.  This will have to be redone.
GOOD:  This is the girl's bathroom mirror (minus stain).  See-there is room for their fixture!
 GOOD:  Hardwood floors were installed.
 GOOD: Gutters were installed.
BAD:  Guttering was NOT installed over bay.  This will need to be completed.

SHORT TRIP!

Saturday morning, we got up extra early (for me & the girls, 7:30am is super early!) and headed to Oklahoma for a quick visit with family.  Ok, I more "visited" and Scott more "worked."

We started off at Scott's parent's house.  I was incharge of the water activities for the girls and Scott cut shrubs.  That sounds fair, right?

 My water baby!!!
Nat is such a girly-girl, but she does love Lightning McQueen!!
 Grandma and Natalyn
 Papa and Eliana
After lunch we headed to my Nan-naw and Papa's house.  Scott wanted to help my Papa with a web camera so he could Skype his sister in Alabama.  To make a long story short, Papa ened up with a new laptop, etc...... but the good news is that before we left, he was able to visit with his sister (first time face to face in 12 yrs) via Skype! It was pretty awesome!!!

SPLASH PARK!!

This morning, the girls and I met up with some of our Sunday School class at the local splash park.

Elerz is looking "cool" in her shades!  I LOVE the gap between her front teeth, she is just sooooooo cute!
Natalyn was the driest person at the splash park.  She acted like she was scared of the fountains at first, but then started to have fun!
Nat and her friend Caitlyn in the background.  Elerz is moving those short legs of hers as fast
as she could!

Nat at the fountain on the square.  We went to get a popsicle from the popsicle lady (a lady that rides around on her bike selling popsicles) and she was no where to be found.  I hope she didn't have a flat tire and was stranded somewhere!! I was a little sad because I had a coupon and everthing!!
I know I have talked about  the pinky-purple plastic snails before, but apparently they are art pieces spread throughout town for the summer.  I thought I would post a few pics of where we saw them.

These poor snails have some strange children on them!!! (just kidding!!)

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!!!
and....you will have to forgive me for all the misspelled words..spell check is not working for some reason!
