A Few Words Thursday.....

OK.  Wordless Thursday just doesn't have the same ring to it as Wordless Wednesday as I have seen some fellow bloggies use.  And since I planned to write a few comments anyway....I came up with a few words Thursday...I know..it's a little pathetic....
The point.........Here are some updated pictures I took of the girls a few weeks ago but have failed to share with all 5 of you that read this blog!!
Here goes.......

WHAT?!

OK. Like my title?  I have just some random stuff to share and I could not think of a catchy title to pull it all together. I asked my husband for help, which at the time was suffering from "selective hearing" and just looked at me and said "What?!"  So I thought, OK- that's good as any, I'll use that.

While I am typing this, my family is watching X Factor and a horrible singer is on.  My hubby doesn't understand why they let those types of singers on... and I'm like for ratings and because it is....funny! I like to see how long the judges can keep a professional expression.  It brings up a memory.......back in college a friend of mine and myself went to a Jr College to judge their cheer and dance squad try-outs.  Keep in mind this was back in the late 90's.  During the dance squad try-out a girl came out and basically flopped on the ground for 2 min to "Livin Lavita Loca" (I soooooo hope I spelled that right) -anywho.  I was attempting to be very professional and keep my "judge" face on.....my friend on the other hand........decided not to do this......what she did instead was  turn her entire body to the right directly facing me and stared at the side of my face.  I was determined not to smile or laugh....I kept looking at my score sheet trying to focus....after that "performance" the entire judge panel had to take a break.  I had to find some Tylenol because I had a HUGE headache from my professionalismness?!   I am not sure really where I was going with this... just that I understand how the judges on X factor feel I guess.....

This week we are just sad in this household! Everyone is coughing and sneezing, it's pathetic.  But hey!  At least I don't have to wonder who will be the first person to throw up on the new floors. That title was taken today by Elerz!!! At least she made it to the hard wood floor and not on the carpet.....Let's move on shall we?....

Am I the last person to read the Hunger Games Trilogy?  I didn't even know what the hype was all about when the first movie came out.  Scott and I rented it a few weeks ago and my initial reaction was "this is too weird, not sure I am going to be able to watch this..." but I did ...and since the book is usually way better than the movie, last Wed I down loaded  book 1 and finished it in 3 days, book 2 and 3 took me 2 days each to read. They are so good!!

I'll end with some pics of Nat, she asked me if I thought she looked like Rapunzel... I told her she looked more like Mother Gothell,  she didn't appreciate the comment....

Didn't know an engineering degree was necessary!

Look at the camera and say cheese! No, the airplane in the sky is NOT the camera!!
OK. Elerz look at the camera!!  I am NOT behind you!!
 No! Over HERE!!!
For Pete's sake child!!! Why do you insist on looking everywhere BUT the camera!!!
Does anyone else have this problem with their children??  I took about a dozen other pictures, but they pretty much look like this. No, my post title is not about cameras or photography or obedient children...blah...blah...blah this post is about WHAT Elerz is sitting in during the pictures.
She got this from my mom for her birthday.  I opened the box up yesterday to assemble it and after pulling out all 2 million parts I realize I can't wing this and am going to have to look at the instructions.  I notice first off that I need a screw driver, a hammer and a power screw driver!  FOR REALZ!! A power screw driver?! Look at this thing, it is basically all plastic, all these parts should just snap in place!!  So 1.5 hours later here is the finished product!! The only thing I did wrong was on the rear tire axle, I forgot to put the white hubcap thingy on before hammering the end cap on. BIG OOPS!  I tried to pull the end cap off, but they are sort of designed to not come off, something about for safety reasons..blah.... so since I did not have a blow torch handy to weld the axle rod shorter and start over, I got my kitchen shears and cut through the hub cap and slid it into place and it totally worked.  My kitchen shears are bent now, but it was all for the cause ya know? And I put all the screws in place with a HAND SCREW DRIVER!! I have the blisters on my hands to prove it!!!
HAPPY TRAILS ELIANA!!!!

Insanity!!

OK.  Has anyone else ever been just flipping through the channels on TV and come across trainer Shaun T. and his Insanity work-out infomercials?  Anyone else out there been tempted to buy the program?......Anyone?......Just me?...... I must admit that I was curious about the work-out program, but am too cheap to pay the 14 installments of $29.99 (plus s&h).  Ok, I am exaggerating on the price a bit, but you get what I mean, huh?
Well, a few weeks ago at church one of our friends was talking about buying the work-out and not sticking with it so if anyone wants it then fine.  To find out later, our friend bought it used on Craigslist for $30-ish bucks, so I said "hand it over!"
I mean, it is only 60 days and how hard can it be???????
Ok. Last Tuesday, I started the first work-out.  I thought I was going to barf ( I know-nice blog verbage, huh?) It was only 40 min, and that included the warm-up and cool down, so at least the torture doesn't go on for hours!!!  I was wondering what I got myself into when I was sweating like a pig and barely able to breath and Shaun T. says "Ok.Y'all that was the warm-up. Now let's get to work!!"  I was like, "WHAT?? Are you crazy?! This is INSANE! (Hence why the program is called Insanity)
So the rest of last week was totally crazy, so that was the one and only work-out I got in. Shaun T. would be so disappointed in me.  You see, this work-out program is 6 days on and 1 day off, not the other way around.  So I started over today.  A big gold star for me!! I am hoping to get through this before my b-day in a few months!!!

Eliana's 2nd birthday party

OK. This past week has been totally crazy, I will post about it tomorrow since we celebrated Elerz 2nd b-day this weekend and I want to share it with all 4 people that read this blog!!!ha

Usually, once I have decided on a birthday theme, I search pin interest and crafty blogs weeks in advance to get cute decorations and cake ideas.  Then I get to Hobby Lobby  ASAP and raid the place!!!  Well, Elerz birthday just seemed to sneak up on me, so I decided a few weeks ago to do the easy thing, and have a fall themed party since her birthday is in September and all.
I spent 0 minutes searching the Internet for ideas and last Wednesday, Elerz and I headed to Hobby Lobby to gather kid friendly fall decor.   I went in with NO LIST, which is a really bad idea by the way.  So 3 fruit chew bags, 1 package of PB crackers, 2 sippy cups of water and 1 diaper change later, we were done (that equals out to 2.5 hours if you are interested!)  I couldn't find much that looked kiddish, but not scary.  I did not want any witches, skeletons or that sort of thing.  I then decided to simplify it to only orange, green and black decorations in whatever pattern I liked, which alot of it is polka dot, as that is my favorite!
Then I waited until 9pm on Friday night to start on the decorations, I am a total night owl and so are my girls!!  Did I mention that the party was on Saturday?  Oh yea! I work great under pressure.
So here's the party in all it's glory!!!! Let me apologize ahead of time, there are several, a few pics!!

Vegetable cans makes great weighters for helium balloons!!
For some reason I never got a picture of the cupcakes on the stand. You will just have to imagine green cupcake liners, orange icing with green, white and orange sprinkles. YUMO!

Isn't the #2 so cute!! It is carboard! Hobby Lobby has all the letters and numbers.  I put a coat of paint on it, lightly sanded it and then sealed it with modge podge(of course!). Then I hot glued rafia, wadded up tissue paper and ribbons to the edge.  The vase is just plain with rafia stuffed in it and tulle bows around the top.
Elers started the festivities with a shooting game.  Don't worry, no guns were used!!!
It was more of a "stuff a small barbie trinket of big sis's up one's nose and "shoot" it out by sneezing!"  The 2 yr old was the winner......... and only participant!!
Nat was so grossed out that she threw the trinket away.  I can't say I blame her!!
 Elerz and my Pa-Pa.
My mom (standing), my cousin Andrea, cousin JoHannah and Natalyn munching on some pizza.
 Jim and Susan
 Scott's mom-Reba and my Nan-naw.
Ok. From left to right......Scott's brother, Brad- then Gage a friend of Cousin Hunter who is in the blue shirt- then Scott - then Scott's dad, Pat and my uncle John G.
Her future's so BRIGHT she has to wear SHADES!!!! Oh yes, her dress was a project I decided to do Friday night aswell.  Our bathroom (which is where I seem to do all my craft projects for some  reason) looked like Hobby Lobby exploded in there!!!
Isn't this what every little girl wants for her b-day? A motorized MATOR?!  Well, that would be a yes (or dad-gum) from ol'Elerz!!!  She is all about the Cars Movies right now.  She loves her some Lightning McQueen and Mator (which she insists is named Cars).  Scott and I got her a Car's race track.  I tried so hard to talk hr into a Little People Disney Princess castle that just came out at Wal-mart, but she would have nothing to do with it.  So I just gave in and got her what she wanted.  She now has 4 Lightning McQueens and 3 Mators.
Why is the logical place to put cake and icecream is on one's head?  I am so thankful this kid has very little hair.  She did smell really "sweet" the rest of her party though.
And updated pic of the family!
I don't know why some of my pics did not post in order and I am not in the mood to move pics around now that I am almost done with this post, so they will remain here......
The chaulk board is a cheap plain one  from Hobby Lobby.  I painted it , sanded and sealed it. Then hot glued rafia and mixed black zebra and green print flowers together.  I think I will make these for Christmas gifts!  The picture frame I had and just hot glued orange tulle and green buttons on it.

More projects.....

OK. I started working on Elerz's bedroom this week. I've got a few things done so I thought I would share some pics. My hope, goal, plan is to have her room completed for her b-day party in a few weeks.  Well, everything completed except the space on the wall over her bed.  My original plan was to use embroidery loops with different fabric, but after looking at the loops at Hobby Lobby I came to the conclusion that they just won't work for Elerz.  You see, my little Eliana Rose, is one of those types of kiddos that loves to tinker with things.  And when I say "tinker" I mean DESTROY.  She is just a curious girl that wants to know how things work.  Well, to get back to the embroidery loops, just one look at the tightening screw and I put them back.  All I could see was Elerz grabbing one of these loops off the wall and twisting the screw out and eating it.  I walked around Hobby Lobby for about 30 min trying to figure out a way to secure the loop, but could not think of any, so I'll just have to think of something else.  Any suggestions?
OK. To get back to what I have accomplished......
I thought I would do a little artwork for her room, to add some color to the walls, WITHOUT actually painting the walls.  Let's put it this way, I do NOT miss the green walls in the old house!!  I bought these fabrics at Hobby Lobby and they coordinate with the fabrics that I already have in her room.
 I started by painting a canvas..(obviously)
Then I mod podged the fabric on the canvas.
I then cut out floral shapes out of the various fabrics.  And no, I am not a master circle painter.  They are white garage sale stickers.  I know, I know, I am a cheater genius!!
Another coat of mod podge, to seal everything. Then hot glued buttons around the top of the tree for some added texture.  And wha-la! custom artwork!!
A little collage I pulled together.  All of this stuff was in Elerz's old room, except the frame in the top left corner. That used to be yellow and in Nat's room.  A few coats of green paint, a little sand paper and it's good as new.  I added a flower to the blue frame, basically to make it look more interesting.  I hot glued scrap paper behind the butterflies to add more color.  It's all very Eler-ishy!!!
Hopefully, I will have a few more things completed in the next few days since it is supposed to rain so we will be stuck inside!  You know the part in Wizard of Oz when Dorothy says "lions & tigers & bears...Oh my!"  My saying is currently "mod podge & hot glue & duct tape...Oh My!"
Sad, just real sad, huh?!!!
