OK. This past week has been totally crazy, I will post about it tomorrow since we celebrated Elerz 2nd b-day this weekend and I want to share it with all 4 people that read this blog!!!ha
Usually, once I have decided on a birthday theme, I search pin interest and crafty blogs weeks in advance to get cute decorations and cake ideas. Then I get to Hobby Lobby ASAP and raid the place!!! Well, Elerz birthday just seemed to sneak up on me, so I decided a few weeks ago to do the easy thing, and have a fall themed party since her birthday is in September and all.
I spent 0 minutes searching the Internet for ideas and last Wednesday, Elerz and I headed to Hobby Lobby to gather kid friendly fall decor. I went in with NO LIST, which is a really bad idea by the way. So 3 fruit chew bags, 1 package of PB crackers, 2 sippy cups of water and 1 diaper change later, we were done (that equals out to 2.5 hours if you are interested!) I couldn't find much that looked kiddish, but not scary. I did not want any witches, skeletons or that sort of thing. I then decided to simplify it to only orange, green and black decorations in whatever pattern I liked, which alot of it is polka dot, as that is my favorite!
Then I waited until 9pm on Friday night to start on the decorations, I am a total night owl and so are my girls!! Did I mention that the party was on Saturday? Oh yea! I work great under pressure.
So here's the party in all it's glory!!!! Let me apologize ahead of time, there are several, a few pics!!
Vegetable cans makes great weighters for helium balloons!!
For some reason I never got a picture of the cupcakes on the stand. You will just have to imagine green cupcake liners, orange icing with green, white and orange sprinkles. YUMO!
Isn't the #2 so cute!! It is carboard! Hobby Lobby has all the letters and numbers. I put a coat of paint on it, lightly sanded it and then sealed it with modge podge(of course!). Then I hot glued rafia, wadded up tissue paper and ribbons to the edge. The vase is just plain with rafia stuffed in it and tulle bows around the top.
Elers started the festivities with a shooting game. Don't worry, no guns were used!!!
It was more of a "stuff a small barbie trinket of big sis's up one's nose and "shoot" it out by sneezing!" The 2 yr old was the winner......... and only participant!!
Nat was so grossed out that she threw the trinket away. I can't say I blame her!!
Elerz and my Pa-Pa.
My mom (standing), my cousin Andrea, cousin JoHannah and Natalyn munching on some pizza.
Jim and Susan
Scott's mom-Reba and my Nan-naw.
Ok. From left to right......Scott's brother, Brad- then Gage a friend of Cousin Hunter who is in the blue shirt- then Scott - then Scott's dad, Pat and my uncle John G.
Her future's so BRIGHT she has to wear SHADES!!!! Oh yes, her dress was a project I decided to do Friday night aswell. Our bathroom (which is where I seem to do all my craft projects for some reason) looked like Hobby Lobby exploded in there!!!
Isn't this what every little girl wants for her b-day? A motorized MATOR?! Well, that would be a yes (or dad-gum) from ol'Elerz!!! She is all about the Cars Movies right now. She loves her some Lightning McQueen and Mator (which she insists is named Cars). Scott and I got her a Car's race track. I tried so hard to talk hr into a Little People Disney Princess castle that just came out at Wal-mart, but she would have nothing to do with it. So I just gave in and got her what she wanted. She now has 4 Lightning McQueens and 3 Mators.
Why is the logical place to put cake and icecream is on one's head? I am so thankful this kid has very little hair. She did smell really "sweet" the rest of her party though.
And updated pic of the family!
I don't know why some of my pics did not post in order and I am not in the mood to move pics around now that I am almost done with this post, so they will remain here......
The chaulk board is a cheap plain one from Hobby Lobby. I painted it , sanded and sealed it. Then hot glued rafia and mixed black zebra and green print flowers together. I think I will make these for Christmas gifts! The picture frame I had and just hot glued orange tulle and green buttons on it.
